Connect & Check Integrity

Connection Steps

  • 3Open Trezor Suite. It should auto-detect your device.

Install Firmware

To ensure maximum security, Trezor devices are shipped without firmware installed. You will install the latest version during this step.

Authenticity Check

During the firmware installation, Trezor Suite verifies the cryptographic signature of the device's bootloader. This guarantees your device is genuine and has not been compromised by a malicious actor.

Wallet Backup (Critical)

The Golden Rule of Crypto

Your Recovery Seed (12-24 words) is your wallet. If you lose your device, you can restore your funds on a new one using these words. If you lose these words, your funds are lost forever. Trezor cannot reset this for you.

1. Write it down

Use the cards provided in the box. Write the words in the exact order shown on the device screen.

2. Double Check

The device will quiz you on specific words to verify you wrote them down correctly.

3. Keep it Offline

Never photograph your seed. Never type it into a computer or password manager. Paper or metal only.

What happens if I break my Trezor?
Your funds are not stored on the device itself, but on the blockchain. As long as you have your Recovery Seed (12-24 words), you can buy a new Trezor (or any BIP39 compatible wallet) and restore your access immediately.
Why is the device shipped without firmware?
This is a security feature. It ensures that the firmware installed on your device is the latest official version from our servers, preventing any 'middleman' attacks where pre-installed software might be malicious.
Can I use my Trezor with an iPhone?
The Trezor Model T and Trezor Safe 3 cannot connect via USB to iOS devices due to Apple's restrictions. However, you can use the 'View Only' mode in the Trezor Suite Lite app to track your portfolio.
